This is ADC 0809 Pin Configuration – Part 4 explanation. There are many ways to perform Analog to Digital conversion process depends on the speed and accuracy of conversion is needed. These methods range from slow and low to very fast and relatively expensive.

ADC type most widely used are:

  • Closed-loop system: single and counter slope, double slope, sequential approach
  • Open-loop system: voltage to frequency, the voltage pulse width, simultaneous conversion.

This is Illumination Intensity Measurement System Diagram – Part 1. The data in the microprocessor is always in digital form. This is different from the reality of the outside world, commonly known form of analog data.

To convert analog signals into digital signals, it requires analog to digital conversion, and IC ADC0809 is a main component. This tool will do the conversion analog voltage or current conversion into a digital word.

Digital word generated by the ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) delivered by the printer port that is then connected to the microcomputer bus. Port may be included in the ADC chip itself. For the program, ADC and appear as a printer port or a memory location that contains a binary display of analog signals.

There are a few other supporting components that must have been very helpful in the process of converting from Analog to Digital, namely: Sensor (at the Final of my project is LDR, Clock Function Generator NE555, Buffer CD74HCT244E, DB25 Female Printer Port).
